In December 2019 we celebrated our first year anniversary of being a certified Plastic Free Community. We’ve been reflecting on how much momentum we’ve seen across the island in regards to plastic pollution. There is still a lot of work to do, but it’s really encouraging to see change happening and so many people engaged.

Our team has worked tirelessly for the last 18 months to raise awareness & educate islanders of all ages about plastic pollution. We’ve formed partnerships with Eco Active, Ports of Jersey, Jersey National Park, Visit Jersey and a large number of local businesses who are passionate about protecting our ocean. We’ve run workshops for businesses & schools, built Precious Plastic recycling machines, facilitated design sprints on island and funded two local students to attend the Plastic Hackathon in London.

But so much of the work happens behind the scenes, and we’re a really small team. Local businesses often ask how best they can support our cause, and so we’re following in the footsteps of Surfers Against Sewage and creating a 200 Club.

The 200 Club is based on a simple concept - bringing local businesses together who commit to donating a minimum of £200 per year to Plastic Free Jersey. The funds will go towards the operational costs for the organisation as well as curriculum development & event activations.

Members of the club will be invited to a number of exclusive 200 Club events each year, as well as use of the 200 Club logo, listing on our website & regular updates on all campaigns.

Please note that businesses interested in becoming founding members of the 200 Club must be a Plastic Free Jersey Business.
